About this board game
The Hobbit: Escape from Goblin Town is a two-player, 120-minute miniature wargame based on The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. It follows Thorin Oakenshield and his brave band of Dwarves, accompanied by Bilbo Baggins and Gandalf the Grey, as they travel across the wilderness of Middle-earth.
This is a 25 mm miniature wargame that combines tabletop play with the creative hobbies of collecting, painting, and converting miniature figures. Players can also model gaming terrain, creating a physical setting for the action described by the scenarios.
Games use D6 dice to resolve actions, while movement is measured with a tape measure. The standard game is played on a board measuring 4 feet by 4 feet, or 48 inches by 120 centimetres, with two or more armies generally deployed within 6 inches of opposite board edges.

- Includes scenarios that develop the story of the hobbits’ escape from Goblin Town
Rather than presenting a single fixed battle, The Hobbit: Escape from Goblin Town is played through several scenarios that develop the escape story. Armies take to the tabletop on a measured battlefield, bringing together strategic wargaming, miniature modelling, and the characters of the film’s Middle-earth adventure.
