About this board game
An Army at Dawn: Tunisia 1942-1943 – A Panzer Grenadier Game is a two-player World War II game covering the battles in Tunisia, with an approximate play time of 360 minutes.
In early November 1942, American and British forces landed in French-ruled Morocco and Algeria. Their campaign sought to push Axis forces into a shrinking bridgehead around the Tunisian ports of Tunis and Bizerte. The fighting also marked the U.S. Army’s first combat experience in the European Theater, while fresh British forces joined the veteran Eighth Army.
The game reflects a campaign shaped by shifting alliances and determined resistance. French troops first fought against the Allies and later joined them, while German and Italian units continued to resist inside the shrinking perimeter.
- 40 scenarios covering the battles in Tunisia
- Four semi-rigid mapboards illustrated by Guy Riessen
- 517 ultra-thick, laser-cut playing pieces
- A complete boxed game that requires no other title to play
The mapboards are fully compatible with many other games in the Panzer Grenadier series, as well as titles from Panzer Grenadier (Modern) and Infantry Attacks. This allows the Tunisia battlefields to fit into a wider collection of compatible maps.
Designed by Mike Perryman, creator of Liberation 1944 and Kursk: Burning Tigers, An Army at Dawn presents the North African campaign in a substantial standalone package released in 2015. Its scenarios, historical setting, and extensive component set make it a focused entry in the Panzer Grenadier series.
