About this board game

Chocoly is a tile-laying game for 2–4 players, with plays lasting around 30 minutes, in which players compete to create the largest continuous area of their own chocolate color.

Each player keeps a hand of four tiles drawn from a common pool. Every 2×2 tile contains a combination of dark, milk, or white chocolate squares, giving players opportunities to extend their own connected groups as tiles are added to the board.

On a turn, players place tiles onto the growing layout. Wooden smarties add another layer of strategy: they can block tiles from being placed in a second layer or enable those placements, either interrupting connections or helping separate groups join together.

  • Tile-laying with 2×2 tiles
  • Chocolate squares in dark, milk, and white
  • A hand of four tiles drawn from a common pool
  • Wooden smarties that block or enable second-layer placement
  • Support for 2–4 players and approximately 30 minutes of play

The player configuration changes how the colors work. With three players, the third color is played normally. With two or four players, the unused color gains an additional role: surrounded groups of the neutral color score for the player or team who touches them most.

That neutral-color rule creates another reason to consider where groups form and how they are approached, while smarties can alter the connections available across the board. Chocoly is related to the earlier game Scho K.O. and adds a third chocolate color; its red smarties are divided equally among all players.

Released in 2011, Chocoly combines shared tile selection, spatial connection building, and changing access to a second layer in a compact competition for chocolate territory.
