About this board game

FOGSITE is a Japanese asymmetrical maze-exploration game for 2–4 players, played in about 40 minutes. Set in ancient ruins filled with fog, it pits a team of Investigators against one player who takes the role of the Guardian.

The Guardian secretly creates a 5×5 maze inside the game box. Each Investigator begins at a different location, while the maze remains hidden from them. Their goal is to find one another and ultimately escape, using mapping and deduction to reconstruct the route through discussion and cooperation.

Because the Investigators cannot see the maze directly, every move is an exercise in shared reasoning. As the group’s map develops, the pressure increases: the time limit becomes shorter, while the Guardian grows more powerful.

• Investigators: Work together to map the unseen maze, reunite, and escape in time.
• Guardian: Control the hidden maze and strengthen your position as the investigation progresses.
• Victory: The Investigators win by escaping before time runs out; the Guardian wins if the time limit reaches “0”.

This one-versus-all dungeon crawl won Best Game Of The Year at the Autumn 2019 Tokyo Game Market. FOGSITE’s second edition also introduced magnets in the box lid to prevent it from falling open and accidentally revealing the hidden map, along with upgraded components and a modified box front.
