About this board game

Kuldhara is a treasure-hunting board game for 1–4 players, with games lasting approximately 120 minutes. Set in the ruins of a vanished village in northern India, it challenges players to recover lost gemstones, craft valuable jewellery, and survive the rise of Kuldhara’s spirits.

Across four rounds representing a full day, players replenish their water and use it to perform essential actions. Travel through the desert with a camel, dig for gemstones among the ruins, and return your discoveries to base camp before night arrives. Each turn is fast and focused, with only one or two actions before players organize their stones on a personal workbench.

Jewellery cards show patterns that players must recreate using their collected gemstones. Complete a pattern to trade in the required stones, claim the card, and earn points. Some cards also provide protection tiles, allowing gemstones to be reused and opening the possibility of crafting two or even three pieces of jewellery through careful planning and a little luck.

  • Manage water to pay for travel and other actions.
  • Arrange gemstones on your personal workbench to complete jewellery patterns.
  • Adapt to changing travel costs as the sun moves during the game.
  • Compete for the most points by crafting valuable jewellery.

The sun’s changing position alters the cost of travel routes as the rounds progress, making efficient water use increasingly important. Plan your movements, prepare strong combinations on your workbench, and decide when to risk one more expedition before darkness falls.

Kuldhara also includes a dedicated solo mode featuring a custom board and card deck for Kadhan, a spectre of Kuldhara. His easy-to-run turns and multiple difficulty levels create close contests in which the final round can make all the difference.
