About this board game

Sammu-ramat is a 1–5 player cooperative board game with an approximately 60-minute playing time, set in the Assyrian Empire during a period of political uncertainty.

Players take the roles of Sammu-ramat and the advisors surrounding the royal court and vassal states. Together, you must keep the Empire strong and protected against internal unrest, external threats, natural disasters, and other dangers. All players win or lose as one.

Each player’s Advisor has distinct abilities and strengths. Spend actions to play action cards and move between regions along the paths printed on the board, responding to the Empire’s changing needs and helping maintain its stability.

  • Military needs support to defend the Empire.
  • Supplies must be balanced across the regions.
  • Health is one of the concerns requiring attention.
  • Diviners represent another regional need to manage.

When battle comes, combat is deterministic: enemy units are removed on a one-for-one basis. Rather than relying on uncertain battle results, your decisions determine how you respond to the threats facing Assyria.

At setup, draw a Challenge card to discover the scenario for the game. Each challenge represents one of the many difficulties Sammu-ramat encountered during her reign, from 811 BC to 808 BC. To win, the advisors must complete the scenario while ensuring that the Empire remains stable and Queen Sammu-ramat stays safe.

With its collaborative structure, regional priorities, action-card play, and scenario-based objectives, Sammu-ramat places the fate of the Assyrian Empire in the hands of the entire table.
