About this board game
Pyramid: Home Game is a 1974 board game for 3–4 players that takes about 30 minutes to play. Based on the famous television game show most notably hosted by Dick Clark, it challenges teammates to communicate quickly under strict time limits.
In the main game, one teammate describes items belonging to a given subject while the other tries to identify them. Each team has thirty seconds for each list, making clear explanations and quick guesses essential. After three rounds, the team with the most points advances to the Winners Circle.
- Describe items connected to a given subject.
- Work with a teammate against a thirty-second limit for each list.
- Play three rounds and compete for the highest score.
- Advance to the Winners Circle and attempt the final challenge.
In the Winners Circle, one teammate must make a list of items that fit each of six different categories. The other teammate attempts to guess all six subjects in under sixty seconds. Success wins the big money, while the team with the most money after three games is the overall winner.
The Milton Bradley editions did not use the actual television Winners Circle format. Instead, all eight games used descriptions of items like those in the front game. The first three editions featured $10,000 games, with the Third Edition later repackaged as a $20,000 version with slightly different artwork. The eighth game used $50,000, reflecting the brief 1981 series.
With its team-based clue giving, timed lists, escalating rounds, and changing prize amounts across editions, Pyramid: Home Game brings the central race against the clock from the show into a compact home format.
