About this board game

Unfinished Case of Holmes is a mystery game for 2–12 players that takes around 120 minutes to play. Set in Victorian-era London, it asks players to complete an investigation into a mysterious death that Sherlock Holmes began but never finished.

Following an escape-room-style structure, the game presents a series of challenging riddles and mysteries. Solve each puzzle to progress to the next level, combining digital instructions with physical evidence and game materials.

The mobile app and digital game are used primarily to provide instructions and enter answers to questions. The rest of the investigation takes place with real objects, making this more than a card game: the physical pieces serve as evidence that has survived over time.

  • Game materials and instructions
  • Mobile app and digital game
  • Real objects and physical evidence
  • A playing time of approximately 90–120 minutes

Before starting, allow about 15 minutes for preparation. Internet access, registration on the idventure.de portal, and the required app and game download are also needed. Curiosity, enjoyment, and out-of-the-box thinking complete the essential equipment.

Choose the standard mode and play as one team, challenge yourselves against the clock, or organize a multiple-team competition. Competition play requires additional game sets, which can be printed at no extra cost, without revealing solutions or spoilers to the participants.

Like an escape room, Unfinished Case of Holmes is designed to be played once by a group, but it can be played again by other players. Its blend of a detective story, interactive digital elements, and tangible evidence creates a focused investigation for mystery and puzzle fans.
