About this board game
Panzer Vor! is a two-player wargame with approximately 45-minute play time, based on the anime Girls & Panzer. Set in a modern-day world where girls study tankery as a school sport, it features battles between World War II tanks using non-lethal ammunition.
Each player controls a group of tanks and characters determined by the scenario. Tanks have individual values for movement, attack modifier, size modifier, movement points, and front, side, and rear armor. Characters accompany tanks and provide special limited-use abilities or modifiers for the tanks they join.
The card system determines what each player can do during a turn. Players begin with five cards and draw one card each turn, then use their hands to select actions and effects.
- Movement: Move one tank or, in some cases, several tanks.
- Fire: Attack opposing tanks using the relevant card and tank values.
- Combined actions: Move and fire together, with different modifiers.
- Reactions: Play certain cards in response to an opponent’s card.
- Special effects: Resolve some effects immediately when their cards are drawn.
With scenario-specific forces, armored facings, character abilities, and a hand of possible actions, Panzer Vor! presents a compact tank battle system built around card timing and battlefield decisions. Its game system is based on World Tank Battles.
Released in 2014, the game was followed by the sequel Panzer Vor Ausf. 2 in 2016.
