About this board game
Château Roquefort is a board game for 2–4 players with a playing time of 30 minutes, released in 2007.
In the castle of Appenzell, each player controls a group of colored mice. The goal is to collect pieces of cheese by bringing two of your mice to a place where the same kind of cheese is showing.
On a turn, players spend action points to develop their position and explore the castle. Available actions include:
- Putting new mice into play
- Revealing corridors in the castle
- Moving mice around the castle
- Pushing a tile into play to change the maze of cheese pieces underneath
The castle layout can change as tiles are pushed into play, affecting the maze beneath the corridors. Players must move their colored mice through this changing arrangement while looking for matching cheese locations.
Whenever two mice belonging to the same player reach a place with the same kind of cheese showing, that player obtains a piece of the cheese. The first player to collect four different pieces of cheese wins the game.
With its action-point turns, moving corridors, colored mice, and shifting cheese maze, Château Roquefort presents a clear race toward a specific collection goal. Every turn offers choices between adding mice, exploring, moving, or changing the castle itself.
