About this board game
Guilds of London is a strategy board game for 1–4 players, with play lasting about 90 minutes. Set in London during the late medieval and early modern periods, it places you among the powerful guilds that controlled the city’s trade, manufacturing, business, and civic life.
Your aim is to build a strong base of influence by placing your liverymen in strategic guilds. As your presence grows, you can work toward achieving the status of Master in many of them, strengthening your position within London’s influential commercial and civic network.
Each guild offers more than prestige. Control of a guild provides victory points and additional actions, giving you opportunities to exploit your influence and affect the future development of the city. Carefully choosing where to place your liverymen is central to expanding your power.
- Place liverymen in strategic guilds.
- Build toward Master status across multiple guilds.
- Gain victory points and additional actions through guild control.
- Extend your influence into the commercially valuable Ulster or Virginia plantations.
The guilds of London were led by wealthy men who held influential positions in the community. Their chief representative became the Lord Mayor of London, while leading delegates served as Aldermen, and other guild members were the city’s burghers. Guild representatives met at the Guildhall to discuss the great issues of the day.
In Guilds of London, this setting becomes a contest for influence, control, and future opportunity. Establish your power base across the guilds, reach for mastery, and use every advantage your position provides to guide the city’s development.
