About this board game
Carcassonne: Star Wars is a tile-placement game for 2–5 players, with play time of about 35 minutes. It combines the adventures of the Star Wars universe with familiar Carcassonne gameplay, while simplifying and changing several rules for a distinct experience.
As tiles are placed, the traditional Carcassonne features take on a galactic identity. Trading Routes replace roads and are claimed by Merchants, while Asteroid Fields replace cities and are claimed by Explorers. Planets replace cloisters and are claimed by Conquerers, with no farming equivalent in this version.
- Trading Routes are claimed by Merchants.
- Asteroid Fields are claimed by Explorers.
- Planets are claimed by Conquerers.
- Faction symbols provide scoring bonuses, regardless of the faction of your Meeples.
Faction symbols represent the Empire, Rebel Alliance, and Bounty Hunters. Majority control is decided by dice: the highest result wins, rather than the combined total. Ties and defeats can still provide points, and players receive dice based on the number of their Meeples involved, with an extra die for using a large Meeple and another for matching Faction symbols. This total is always capped at three dice.
Planets also introduce a notable placement choice. When placing a tile adjacent to a Planet tile, you may place a Meeple either on the adjacent Planet tile or on the tile you have just placed.
Carcassonne: Star Wars also includes a four-player team variant. The two Empire colors—black for Darth Vader and white for Storm Troopers—face the two Rebel Alliance colors—red for Luke Skywalker and green for Yoda. Orange, representing Boba Fett, is not used in this variant.
