About this expansion

Blood Rage: Gods of Ásgard is an expansion for 2–4 players, with games lasting about 90 minutes. Released in 2015, it adds two powerful gods whose presence changes the rules of the provinces they occupy.

At the start of each game, two god cards are drawn at random and placed beside the board so everyone can see their powers. Two unused Ragnarök tokens are then drawn to determine the gods’ initial provinces, and one god figure is placed in each named province. Each god’s ability is always active, while the other provinces remain unaffected.

A god’s position changes whenever a player attempts to pillage that god’s province, whether the pillage succeeds or fails. The god must move to a different unpillaged province without the other god. Gods never share a province, and they never move into a pillaged or destroyed province. At the beginning of the second and third Ages, both gods are placed in new random provinces using two more unused Ragnarök tokens.

  • Two randomly selected gods create a different combination in every session.
  • God abilities affect draft choices and influence the flow of battles.
  • Pillaging can move a god, letting players pursue a useful effect or disrupt another player’s plans.
  • The expansion adds a new strategic layer without introducing much additional rules complexity.

Players may repeatedly benefit from a god’s power by steering that figure toward provinces they want to pillage. Alternatively, they can pillage around a god, attempt a seemingly hopeless pillage to relocate it, or use the changing positions to hinder an opponent. The result is a shifting tactical puzzle that develops throughout the Ages.

Each god miniature comes with a tarot-sized God card. With its random setup and persistent province effects, Blood Rage: Gods of Ásgard gives every game a distinctive texture while keeping its additional rules focused.
