Abyss: Leviathan

About this expansion

Abyss: Leviathan is a 2018 game for 2–5 players, with a playing time of about 60 minutes. As terrifying sea monsters converge on the Kingdom’s border, players must decide how boldly to explore the depths and confront the growing threat.

The threat track is replaced by a dedicated border board, where Leviathan cards are placed. When a monster appears during exploration, the opportunity—and danger—of fighting a Leviathan is revealed. Combat is not easy, and fleeing may be even more dangerous.

• Explore the depths while the Leviathans gather at the border.
• Fight sea monsters using Allies and conscripts mandated by the Guilds.
• Use the powers of new lords and Allies to support your battles.
• Compete to claim the statue and its end-game bonus.

Every decision carries consequences. Choosing not to fight can leave you injured, while defeating monsters can help prove your worth and build the influence needed to gain access to the throne. The border board keeps the danger visible as the situation develops.

At the end of the game, the player who has killed the greatest number of sea monsters takes the statue and earns 5 extra points. In Abyss: Leviathan, exploration offers a unique chance for glory, but survival may demand careful judgment when the monsters appear.
