Legendary Encounters: The X-Files Deck Building Game is a cooperative deck-building game for 1–5 players, with games lasting about 60 minutes. Choose from Mulder, Scully, Skinner, Doggett, and Reyes as your team investigates the X-Files and works to uncover a greater conspiracy.

Each game takes you through three “seasons” drawn from the show’s first nine seasons. Every player begins with a deck of basic cards, then builds a stronger team by recruiting agents from the Bureau. Newly recruited characters join your discard pile and become part of your deck when it is reshuffled.

At the start of each turn, a card from the Conspiracy Deck enters the Shadows. It may be an Enemy, Event, Informant, or Lead connected to the conspiracy. Play cards from your hand to generate Attack, Recruit Points, and special abilities, using Attack to defeat Enemies and reveal hidden cards while spending Recruit Points to find new characters.

• Investigate Leads and collect Evidence about the conspiracy.
• Work together to manage Enemies and the threats in the Field.
• Strengthen your personal deck by recruiting additional characters.
• Face the conspiracy’s vicious “End Game” if you uncover enough of its secrets.

Cooperation is essential, because Enemies remaining in the Field Strike at the end of each turn. If a player takes damage equal to or greater than their health, they are defeated and the team normally loses; once “The End” begins, the remaining agents must continue without them.
