About this expansion

Eclipse: Shadow of the Rift is a modular expansion for Eclipse that supports 2–6 players and games lasting about 120 minutes. In the aftermath of the Ancient Uprising, a fragile peace is threatened as new factions and strange forces emerge across the galaxy.

The Unity nanomachines bend energy and matter to their will, while Shaper ships tear the fabric of spacetime apart. Meanwhile, the seemingly insignificant factions of Octantis make leap after leap in development, suggesting that the base laws of the universe may no longer apply.

Shadow of the Rift introduces several new mechanisms to Eclipse, giving you modular ways to customize your games. Use all the additions together or select only the elements that suit your preferences and play style.

These additions bring new possibilities to the galaxy while preserving the flexibility of the Eclipse system. The expansion does not require Rise of the Ancients, although it is fully compatible with that expansion.
