Paper Tales: Beyond the Gates is a 2018 expansion for 1–7 players, with games lasting around 30 minutes. It introduces new content designed to preserve the balance of the base game while expanding its strategic possibilities and replay value.

Twenty new units and six new buildings bring fresh options to each kingdom. With Beyond the Gates, players begin each game with a set of seven buildings available out of eleven, and the available buildings change from one game to the next. This changing selection encourages different strategies across repeated plays.

Each new building opens additional strategic paths, while the new units add further impact to the choices made during the game. Together, these additions deepen the possibilities of Paper Tales without losing sight of the balance established by the base game.
