About this expansion
Caverna: Cave vs Cave – Era II is a 1–2-player board game with a playing time of about 60 minutes, continuing the story of dwarves developing a home inside a mountain.
In the original game, players begin with two dwarves and a small excavation in the mountain’s side. Across eight rounds, they double their workforce, open new living space, construct buildings and rooms, and dig for precious metals.
Era II, also known as The Iron Age, takes the cave-building challenge further. Players begin exploring a side cave rich in ore, while donkeys help move that ore to the surface. There, it can be cast into iron and forged into weapons to protect the cave from anyone who wishes it harm.
The growing tribe now includes four primates capable of work. Alongside expanding the cave and developing its rooms, players continue gathering the resources needed to increase their wealth.
- Explore a side cave abundant in ore.
- Use donkeys to move ore to the surface.
- Cast iron and forge weapons.
- Collect grains, fibers, and building resources.
- Prepare for the coming age of agriculture.
Caverna: Cave vs Cave – Era II combines underground expansion with the arrival of new materials, working animals, and a larger workforce. As the tribe develops and its wealth increases, agriculture is soon on the horizon.
