About this expansion
High Frontier Expansion is an expansion for the space exploration game High Frontier, supporting 1–5 players and games of approximately 180 minutes. Released in 2010, it extends the original experience with a larger map, additional rules, new patent cards, and expanded scenarios.
The extended map reaches beyond the original area of exploration to include Jupiter, Saturn, main belt comets, centaurs, and Trojan asteroids. These destinations broaden the scope of the spacefaring challenge and give the expansion a much larger celestial setting to explore.
New rules add further systems and hazards to the game. Players can use slingshots, contend with radiation belts, and encounter piracy, combat, solar flares, and space politics and governments. Together, these additions expand the range of situations represented during play.
The expansion also introduces 24 new patent cards. These cards represent additional reactors, generators, and radiators, along with one more thruster, adding new technology options to the High Frontier experience.
