About this expansion
Snow Tails: The Leap of Death is a special promo track for 2–5 players, designed for races of about 45 minutes. Released in 2009, it introduces a particularly dangerous obstacle to a Snow Tails race.
To clear the obstacle, a sled must cross the purple line with a speed of at least 5. A sled crossing below that speed takes one dent card for each point its speed falls short of 5, making a fast approach essential.
- Cross the purple line at speed 5 or higher to avoid penalty dent cards.
- Take one dent card for every point of speed below 5.
- If your sled ends its movement on a crevasse square, do not refill your hand.
- The effects can occur together during the same move.
The crevasse squares add another danger after the line has been crossed. Ending a move on one prevents the player from refilling their hand, just as if the sled had collided with another sled.
These rules can combine in a single turn. For example, a sled that passes the purple line at speed 3 and ends its move on a crevasse takes 2 dent cards and does not refill its hand.
The Leap of Death is a compact challenge built around speed, movement results, dent cards, and hand management. Plan the approach carefully, clear the purple line with enough speed, and avoid stopping on the crevasse as you fight to continue the race.
For players familiar with Snow Tails, this promo track provides a clearly defined hazardous route with cumulative consequences. Every point of speed below the threshold matters, and the final position of the sled can affect whether the player’s hand is replenished.
