About this expansion

Catan: Treasures, Dragons & Adventurers is an expansion for 3–4 players, with games lasting about 90 minutes. First released in 2009, it provides additional material for six Catan scenarios, including scenarios that previously required some handicraft work.

The expansion includes material for The Desert Dragons, The Great Canal, The Enchanted Land, and The Treasure Islands. It also contains enough material for Greater Catan, so a second base game is no longer needed for that scenario.

A new scenario, Departure Into The Unknown, completes the set of six. Together, these scenarios give players a collection of additional ways to use their Catan materials, with components designed for the specific scenarios included in the expansion.

• 18 terrain hexes, including 6 sea hexes with desert on the reverse side
• 2 frame pieces and 9 canal pieces
• 20 treasure tokens and 12 number tokens
• 19 dragon tokens, represented by wooden dragon pieces in the English USA version
• 16 cities

The German-language edition was first released in October 2009, with rules later available from catan.de; the reviewed rules version is v8, dated October 23, 2013. An English version was expected in July 2021, with English rules planned for download from catan.com afterward.
