About this expansion

Dice Hospital: Community Care is a 2020 board game for 1-4 players with an approximately 90-minute play time, combining three expansions for the original Dice Hospital.

The box contains The City Expansion, The Maternity Expansion, and The Improvements Expansion. Together, they add new ways to collect patients, manage mothers and babies, and customise your hospital.

In The City Expansion, the usual intake phase is replaced by a set of city tiles. Players use ambulances and paramedic tokens to collect specific patients, creating more direct interaction and offering bonuses for picking up unhealthy patients. Patients left unattended in the city lose value through neglect, while the player or players who collected the healthiest patients that round gain fatality tokens if those patients die.

The Maternity Expansion introduces normal-sized pink mother dice and smaller pink baby dice. Players compete for city-set objective cards that reward discharging combinations of mother, baby, and often other coloured dice. Mothers only suffer neglect when untreated and sharing a ward with other dice, while a birthing die determines whether single or twin babies arrive.

The Improvements Expansion adds a free-to-visit worker-placement board where players can obtain room improvements for a colour of their choice. It is designed to provide extensive customisation and additional strategic depth for players who want more from the original game.

In the Kickstarter edition, a helicopter miniature can collect patients from anywhere in the city grid for the first player that round. That edition also includes components for a fifth player.
