Catan Scenarios: Oil Springs is a 2011 scenario for 3–6 players that plays in about 60 minutes, adding oil, environmental risk, and global consequences to the Catan experience.

As settlers arrive on Catan, they discover oil—a powerful new resource with the potential to transform development. Oil can increase resource yields and allow a settlement to grow much faster than normal, creating exciting opportunities for players seeking to make their mark on the island.

That opportunity comes with a serious cost. Players must monitor the environmental damage caused by their oil use, weighing immediate gains against the long-term effects of exploiting this new resource. The scenario turns economic progress into a shared challenge, as individual decisions can contribute to a much larger threat.
