Cthulhu Gloom: Unpleasant Dreams is an expansion for 2–6 players that brings the wonders and horrors of the Dreamlands to Cthulhu Gloom. Combine its 55 transparent cards with a copy of the base game to introduce new ways for investigators to suffer before reaching their inevitable doom.

Unpleasant Dreams adds morbid Modifiers, Events, Stories, Transformations, and Untimely Deaths. It also includes a new family that calls the Dreamlands home, giving players fresh characters and themes for their macabre stories. Will a shantak become a loyal mount, or will approaching Azathoth bring about your end?

The two Unwelcome Guests add a shifting element to the game. At the start, deal one or both Guests face up in the center of the table. Each Guest follows the card types shown on its card, immediately moving to join the family of the character on which one of its trigger cards is played.

When a Guest moves, all of its Modifiers move with it, and the Guest is considered part of its new family until it moves again. This can even delay the game’s end if a final play draws a Guest into the family that appeared closest to winning. With creeping chaos, strange Dreamlands creatures, and the threat of Nyarlathotep, Cthulhu Gloom: Unpleasant Dreams adds an unsettling new layer to the original game.
