About this expansion

Champions of Midgard: Asian Monsters is a 2018 board game for 2–4 players, with a play time of 90 minutes. Originally available from the Game Boy Geek Season 6 Kickstarter, it includes nine new monster cards designed around three different colors: blue, red, and yellow.

The set contains three cards for each color, introducing the Mazu Dragon, Nian Monster, and World Turtle. Each monster brings a distinct rule that affects how it can be faced, what must be paid before combat, or what happens after it is defeated.

  • Mazu Dragon: Can only be hit by spears.
  • Nian Monster: Only appears one day a year and requires an additional food per dice before combat.
  • World Turtle: Collect the coins on the card multiplied by two, but receive a blame token when it is killed.

These nine cards give Champions of Midgard: Asian Monsters a focused collection of unusual monster effects. The Mazu Dragon places a restriction on the weapon used, the Nian Monster creates a specific timing and food requirement, and the World Turtle combines a doubled coin reward with a blame-token consequence.

With its three-color card distribution and sharply differentiated monster rules, the set offers a compact selection of challenges and rewards. Players can encounter monsters that demand the right equipment, additional preparation, or acceptance of a consequence in exchange for valuable coins.

For players looking for the Asian Monsters content from the Game Boy Geek Season 6 Kickstarter, this set is defined by its nine monster cards and their distinctive effects. Its 2018 release adds a clearly themed group of encounters to the Champions of Midgard range.
