About this expansion

Shadow Kingdoms of Valeria: Riftlands is a 2023 expansion for 2–5 players, with games lasting around 120 minutes. It opens a new shrine in the Monster-kin cavern, where three magical rift gates lead to Valeria castles filled with plunder and opportunities for attack.

Riftlands introduces two powerful, thematic asymmetrical powers for each Monster-kin race. One power is active from the beginning of the game, while the other can be unlocked by completing a Battle Plan. These abilities give the races distinct strengths and add new ways to pursue the role of General of the Shadow Kingdoms.

The expansion also adds a new set-collection mechanic through 30 Relic cards. Players can discover ancient relics, gather collections of powerful talismans, and use each relic’s unique power to strengthen their forces. Relics provide both collection goals and additional asymmetry between players.
