About this expansion

Defenders of the Realm: Generals Expansion is an expansion for 1–4 players with a play time of about 90 minutes, adding three new general miniatures and cards to the game.

Each general can be used in place of an original base-game general, giving players a more difficult challenge. The new cards introduce abilities that are more difficult to deal with than those of the corresponding original generals.

  • Ygzell the Corrupt: a new Demon General who still uses demons as his minions, replacing Balazarg.
  • Gash Bloodclaw: a new Orc General who still uses orcs as his minions, replacing Gorgutt.
  • Lord Vileheart: a new Undead General who still uses undead as his minions, replacing Varkolak.

The expansion contains three miniatures with their matching cards. These figures were stretch goals in the Kickstarter campaign and represent new versions of the Demon, Orc, and Undead Generals.

When players want to increase the difficulty, they can exchange an original general for the corresponding replacement from Defenders of the Realm: Generals Expansion. The enemy type remains familiar, but the general’s new abilities create a more demanding situation to overcome.

Released in 2014, this expansion is designed for groups seeking a tougher variation while keeping the same three enemy identities: demons, orcs, and undead. Select the general that matches the desired challenge, add its miniature and card, and prepare to face abilities that are harder to manage than those found in the base game.
