About this expansion

Stephenson’s Rocket: Eastern USA & China is a two- to four-player expansion for Stephenson’s Rocket, offering two alternative maps for games of around 90 minutes. Released in 2018, it adds geographic variety while preserving the rules of the original game.

This is the first expansion for Reiner Knizia’s classic game, arriving nineteen years after its initial release. Its centerpiece is a large, double-sided board, with each side presenting a different setting for playing Stephenson’s Rocket.

• Both maps use the existing game rules.

Although the rules remain the same, the different maps change how each game feels and plays. The two settings provide additional variety for players who already enjoy the original map and want alternative ways to experience the game.

The board is designed to expand and complement the English second edition of Stephenson’s Rocket, also released in 2018. It can also be used with the original version, making the expansion suitable for players with either edition.

With its double-sided design and two distinct map settings, Stephenson’s Rocket: Eastern USA & China offers a straightforward way to broaden the game without introducing a new ruleset. Players can bring the expansion to sessions with two, three, or four participants and continue using the familiar rules across either map.
