About this expansion

Poetry for Neanderthals: More Cards Box 1 is the first expansion for Poetry for Neanderthals, a competitive word-guessing game for 2–12 players.

In the base game, players take turns as the Poet, giving clues that help teammates guess a listed word or phrase. The catch is that every clue must use only single-syllable words, turning even familiar ideas into amusing linguistic puzzles.

For example, instead of saying “broccoli,” a Poet might describe it as a “green thing you eat for live long and have good health.” If the Poet uses a big word such as “vegetable,” they get bopped on the head with a NO! Stick and lose points.

Each round gives the chosen Poet a Poetry Card and a 90-second time limit to communicate the listed answer. Teammates must interpret the clues, while the Poet works within the strict single-syllable rule.

The goal is to score the most points by correctly interpreting words and phrases. More Cards Box 1 adds a large set of fresh prompts, helping extend the challenge and keep the clue-giving mayhem going across more games.

Released in 2021, this expansion is designed to be used with the original game. Its new cards provide more opportunities to test quick thinking, creative descriptions, and players’ ability to avoid forbidden big words.
