About this expansion

A Game of Thrones: The Card Game (Second Edition) – The Archmaester’s Key is a card game expansion for 2–4 players, with an approximately 120-minute play time. Released in 2017, it begins the Flight of Crows cycle, following key events from A Feast for Crows.

The great battles of the War of the Five Kings have temporarily ceased, but the struggle for power is far from finished. The game of thrones continues as the Great Houses look for new ways to influence events and work toward their ambitions.

At the heart of this expansion is the bestow keyword, which gathers strength in The Archmaester’s Key. New cards also provide incentives for the Great Houses to use Banners and work together, adding fresh reasons to consider cooperation within the ongoing conflict.

  • First expansion of the Flight of Crows cycle
  • New cards supporting Banner-based cooperation
  • Further development of the bestow keyword
  • Iconic characters including Daario Naharis and Mag the Mighty

With its focus on the aftermath of the War of the Five Kings and the continuing game of thrones, The Archmaester’s Key opens a new chapter for the second edition of the card game. Its featured characters and new incentives for the Great Houses make it a notable starting point for the Flight of Crows cycle.
