About this expansion

Holotype: Pterosaur Mini-Expansion is an expansion for Holotype: Mesozoic North America, a paleontology-themed worker placement game for 2–6 players with a 120-minute play time.

Gameplay does not change, allowing the expansion to add new content while preserving the base game’s fast-paced light-strategy experience. Players continue using their Paleontologist, Grad Student, and Field Assistant workers to gather fossils, conduct research, and publish new Dinosaurs and Marine Reptiles as Holotypes.

The expansion introduces seven unique Pterosaur specimen cards, giving the base game additional specimens to discover and publish. It also includes three new Field Expedition cards and three Gastrolith Trace Fossil cards.

Personal and semi-collaborative Global Objectives continue to feature modern paleontology concepts such as cladistics and taxonomy. Players can earn Victory Points by publishing Holotypes, completing Personal Objectives, and contributing to Global Objectives.

With its additional cards and objectives, Holotype: Pterosaur Mini-Expansion expands the content available in the base game without introducing changes to its core gameplay. The player with the most Victory Points remains the winner.
