De Kolonisten van Catan: De Specialisten is a separately sold expansion for The Settlers of Catan for 3–4 players, with a playing time of 100 minutes. It also requires Catan: Seafarers.

In this expansion, players build their villages across small islands where only a limited number of resources are available. This restricted supply shapes the setting for a new Catan challenge, as players must develop their settlements without the abundance found on a typical starting island.

A notable change is that none of the starting islands provide sheep. As a result, the specialist trade ports gain importance during play. These ports become a key part of the island setting as players deal with the unusual limits on available resources.

The expansion also introduces specialists. Players can become specialists in one or more resources, adding new benefits to their development and helping distinguish their progress from that of their opponents.
