About this expansion
Meeple Circus: Tomatoes and Awards is a 2–5 player game experience that plays in about 45 minutes, adding tomato throwing and player-given awards to the circus proceedings.
During the third round, before each act, a player other than the performer becomes the tomatoes thrower. They take five Tomato tokens from the reserve and throw them at the performing player whenever a listed event occurs, taking care not to disturb the performance.
- One or more components fall.
- A big cymbal crash is heard after one minute, and then every 20 seconds.
- The performer forgets to say “tadaaaa” at the end of the act.
A player cannot receive more than five tomatoes during a single act. At the end of the game, the player or players with the most tomatoes lose 3 Applause, while the player or players with the fewest tomatoes gain 3 Applause.
The awards system begins at the start of the game, when each player takes an Award token from the reserve. Before the game ends, every player must give their token to another player and explain the reason. An award might recognize the most amazing performance, a perfect execution of a challenge, or the funniest act.
Each Award token is worth 2 Applause at the end of the game. However, a player who forgets or chooses not to give away their Award token loses 4 Applause. With timing, mishaps, applause, and personal recognition all affecting the final result, Meeple Circus: Tomatoes and Awards makes every act matter.
