De Kolonisten van Catan: Het Kaartspel – Goud & Piraten

About this expansion

De Kolonisten van Catan: Het Kaartspel – Goud & Piraten is a 10-card mini-expansion for the two-player Catan Card Game, with a listed play time of 90 minutes. Created by Kosmos in 2001, it was designed specifically for the 2002 Catan Card Game tournament.

The expansion focuses on piracy and provides more options for gold. Its cards were given to all participants of the 2002 tournament, making the set a distinctive part of the Catan tournament scene. At the 2002 game fair in the Netherlands, the same cards were distributed under the name Goud & Piraten, or “Gold & Pirates.”

• Contains 10 cards for the Catan Card Game
• Created by Kosmos in 2001 for the 2002 tournament
• Centers on piracy and additional gold options
• Distributed at the 2002 game fair in the Netherlands

The physical cards were also included in the online version, Catan: Das Kartenspiel. Most of the cards later appeared in slightly modified form in the Barbarians & Traders expansion.

Since the release of Barbarians & Traders, the original Goud & Piraten cards are no longer allowed in tournaments. This gives the mini-expansion a specific historical place within the Catan series: it preserves an early tournament-focused set whose themes were subsequently revisited in an expanded form.

De Kolonisten van Catan: Het Kaartspel – Goud & Piraten belongs to the Catan series and expands the Catan Card Game.
