About this expansion

Through the Ages: A Story of Civilization – Czech expansion is an expansion for 2–4 players, featuring eight additional cards for the second Czech edition and a playing time of about 240 minutes.

These cards introduce four leaders and four wonders spanning Ages A through III. Together, they add new effects focused on resources, science, culture, military strength, farms, libraries, governments, and unused civil actions.

• Leaders: Praotec Čech, Jan Žižka, Jan Amos Komenský, and Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk.
• Wonders: Síť obchodních stezek, Stříbrné kutnohorské doly, Starý Plzeňský pivovar, and Národní knihovna.

Praotec Čech provides a resource discount for building farms, mines, or wonders, while also returning the civil action spent to play him. Jan Žižka makes each farm improve strength and doubles the victory points gained from events played in the political phase, although aggressions and wars cost one additional military action.

Jan Amos Komenský reduces the science cost of special technologies and lets libraries produce either extra science or culture. Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk makes a government produce culture equal to its level and allows military actions to be used as civil actions twice during a turn.

The wonders offer effects that develop over time or reward particular strategies. Síť obchodních stezek produces resources, science, or culture according to the age; Stříbrné kutnohorské doly increases the effect of yellow cards; and Starý Plzeňský pivovar turns farms into sources of culture.

Národní knihovna rewards each unused civil action with culture, but is discarded at the beginning of Age IV if it has not been built. With its mix of leaders and wonders, Through the Ages: A Story of Civilization – Czech expansion adds eight distinctive options to the Czech edition.
