About this expansion

A Game of Thrones: The Card Game – Kings of the Sea is a 2009 expansion for the AGoT LCG Core Set, designed for 2–4 players with a playing time of about 60 minutes.

Its central purpose is to bring House Greyjoy back into the LCG environment. The expansion includes a Greyjoy deck inspired by the ready-to-play decks of the Core Set, combining new cards with classic Greyjoy reprints, including updated versions suited to the LCG.

Kings of the Sea also expands the wider game beyond House Greyjoy. Each house receives at least one King or Queen, while new Kingdom locations and a selection of plot cards add fresh possibilities to deck construction. The plot cards include Military Battle, Intrigue Gambit, and Power Struggle plots.

  • Reintroduces House Greyjoy with a dedicated deck
  • Adds new and updated Greyjoy cards
  • Includes Kings and Queens for every house
  • Introduces new Kingdom locations and broadly useful neutral cards
  • Provides additional uses for crested characters, especially Holy and War characters

The expansion also addresses several context and synergy concerns within the game. Its cards offer additional use for crested characters and confront a major gap in the metagame: creating a realistic check on powerful locations.

With broadly useful plot and neutral cards, Kings of the Sea is intended to offer something to players regardless of their preferred house. House Greyjoy may be its focus, but the set also provides potential building blocks for a wide range of decks.
