About this expansion
Valor of the Guards: ASL Historical Module Number 7 is an Advanced Squad Leader module for 2–4 players, with a listed play time of 600 minutes. Released in 2008, it portrays the stand of Rodmistev’s 13th Guards Division during the brutal urban fighting in Stalingrad.
The module takes players into downtown Stalingrad, where the German 6th Army and Soviet 62nd Army clash amid the ruins of the city. Its hand-painted map covers a broad area from north of 9th January Square to south of the Square of Fallen Heroes, and from the Stalingrad-1 Rail Station to the Volga and its critical ferry landings.
Two 22-by-32-inch mapsheets create a large battlefield filled with the challenges of urban combat. New terrain includes gutted and partially collapsed buildings and rail cars, while NKVD troops and additional commissars add further elements to the struggle.
- 17 individual scenarios, ranging from 4 to 19 turns
- Four campaign games, including a mini-campaign and three campaigns using the entire map
- Five countersheets and ASL rules Chapter V covering new terrain and campaign games
- Campaign Game Roster and Purchase Record, plus two chapter dividers with campaign-game holding boxes
The campaign options span four, five, nine, or fourteen CG dates. Depending on the campaign, players may face counterattack scenarios and as many as 22 possible scenarios, offering several ways to revisit the battle.
With locations including the Rail Station, Komsomol Park, and Pavlov’s House, Valor of the Guards presents a substantial historical ASL experience focused on the conquest and defense of Stalingrad. Advanced Squad Leader and Beyond Valor: ASL Module 1 are required for play.
