About this board game

Age of Towers is a tabletop tower-defense game for 1–4 players, with games lasting about 75 minutes. Defend your city while competing for precious energy crystals and directing dangerous monsters toward rival cities.

Each turn unfolds across three phases: night, dawn, and day. At night, an event card takes effect, monsters advance along their paths according to their movement values, and two more monsters—or your boss—appear. During dawn, towers attack one monster of a particular type in one of the four adjacent spaces, or target the boss.

During the day, each player chooses from four available actions, then takes one additional action. Construct defenses, place traps, and manipulate the paths to funnel creatures toward your opponents’ cities. Monster types move one to three spaces and may have special abilities, while every core-box monster has two life points.

  • City defense: Begin with 15 city guards and lose guards when monsters or the boss reach your city.
  • Boss battle: The boss has 10 life points, and successfully defeating it ends the game.
  • Flexible play: Take on the challenge solo or compete with up to four players.

Even if you lose your last city guard, you remain in the game, though you will earn fewer victory points. When Age of Towers ends, score the city guards you have left, the damage dealt to your boss, and achievements drawn randomly at the beginning of the game.
