About this board game

Andromeda is a board game for 2–4 players, with an approximately 60-minute play time, set aboard a mysterious spaceship from an ancient vanished race.

In the far future, humanity is extinct and many new races have spread across and beyond the galaxy. The Galactic Council of Elders preserves peace by maintaining a balance of power among these ambitious factions, each of which secretly seeks technologies capable of granting dominion over the Universe.

That balance is threatened when a huge, devastated spaceship suddenly appears in space. Marked with the name “Andromeda,” the wreck is believed to belong to the Ancients, a vanished race whose technology was far beyond anything known in the modern galaxy.

The Galactic Council authorizes an exploration team made up of scientists from different races. Although they board the ship together, each scientist represents a race with its own interests and goals, turning the expedition into a contest of competing ambitions.

The game’s standout feature is its “I split, you choose” action selection system. One player rolls the dice and divides them into two groups. Another player then chooses which group will be assigned to which action, creating an intriguing decision over how the available dice are divided and used.

This mechanism gives Andromeda a distinctive blend of shared opportunity and rivalry. Players are drawn into an expedition where every group of dice can influence the available choices, while the surrounding science-fiction setting frames the action as a race to discover the Ancients’ secrets.
