About this board game

Animal Upon Animal: Crest Climbers is a stacking game for 2–4 players that takes about 15 minutes to play. Each turn, the die determines how players add animals, pass them to others, or expand the building area.

The game uses the same basic gameplay as Animal Upon Animal, with a setting inspired by animals and objects native to Switzerland. Players work toward a simple goal: be the first to use all of their animals.

  • Roll the die and place one or two animals on the stack.
  • Pass one of your animals to another player for them to place.
  • Place an animal on the table to extend the base for future building.

Building the stack requires careful placement, since animals can fall while you are adding to it. If any pieces fall off during your turn, you get up to two of them back, adding an important consequence to every move.

The die creates changing opportunities from turn to turn. You may be able to place multiple animals yourself, shift the responsibility to another player, or create a new foundation that lets everyone continue building in a different direction.

First released in 2011 as Tier auf Tier: Gipfelstürmer, Animal Upon Animal: Crest Climbers combines a familiar stacking system with Swiss-themed animals and objects. Its short playing time and support for 2–4 players make it a focused challenge for groups looking for a quick animal-stacking game.
