About this board game

Bar-Lev: The 1973 Arab-Israeli War, Deluxe Edition is a strategic wargame for 1–5 players with an approximately 720-minute playing time. This 2019 edition revisits the classic GDW design, allowing players to fight on the Golan Heights, the Suez Canal, or both fronts together as a simulation of the entire war.

Operational planning is central to the experience. Players decide who to mobilize and where to concentrate their offensive power, shaping the course of the conflict through their own strategic choices. The game can be played solo or with multiple players, supporting a range of approaches to the campaign.

This deluxe edition is more than a reprint. It features an updated order of battle, revised and expanded rules, new map artwork informed by research, and a re-engineered sequence of play. Air and air defense systems are now fully integrated into the rest of the game, creating a more cohesive treatment of the battlefield.

  • Play either front separately or link both fronts into one larger campaign.
  • Use redesigned 9/16-inch counters with NATO symbols or representative AFV side views.
  • Apply the optional tank battalion BONUS feature.
  • Resolve all game functions with a d10 rather than the original d6.
  • Reference updated charts, illustrations, examples of play, clarifications, and an index.

With its expanded rules and refreshed presentation, Bar-Lev offers a detailed, planning-focused treatment of the 1973 Arab-Israeli War for solo and group play.
