Between Two Castles: Essential Edition is a competitive tile-drafting and tile-placement game for 1–8 players, with games lasting about 60 minutes. Designed by Ben Rosset and Matthew O’Malley, it challenges you to create two remarkable castles at the same time.

The king has demanded a castle, and you are a world-renowned master builder. Since projects of this scale require more than one expert, you work with the player on your left to design one castle and the player on your right to design another.

Each tile represents a room in a castle. On every turn, choose two tiles from your hand and reveal them, then collaborate with your partners to decide where they belong. Careful planning is essential, because the quality of both castles matters to your final result.

• Draft and place: Select two room tiles each turn and add them to your shared castles.
• Build in both directions: Cooperate with the player on your left and the player on your right.
• Balance your success: Your final score is the lower score of the two castles you helped design.

At the end of the game, each castle is scored. The player with the highest personal final score wins, so focusing on only one castle is not enough: your strongest strategy must support both partnerships.
