About this expansion

Between Two Cities: Capitals is an expansion for 1–7 players that adds new city-building challenges to the original Between Two Cities, with a play time of about 35 minutes. It is not a standalone game: the original game is required to play.

At the pinnacle of your career, two capital cities are seeking your expertise to build their city centers. As you develop them, you must account for the natural features that inspired their founding, place civic buildings appropriately, and respond to the demands of their citizens.

Capitals expands the original experience with three new elements that shape how each city is developed:

• Landscape mats give each city a unique layout to build on and around.
• Districts award a majority bonus for connecting specific types of tiles.
• Civic building tiles introduce a new building type, with each unique civic building seeking adjacency to two specific tile types rather than one specific tile type.

These additions create more requirements to consider while you construct your city centers. Landscape layouts influence where you build, districts reward connections between matching tile types, and civic buildings introduce distinct adjacency demands.

Released in 2017, Between Two Cities: Capitals provides an expanded set of considerations for players who want to take the original city-building framework into capital cities. Use the landscapes, pursue district majorities, and position civic buildings with their paired tile requirements in mind.
