About this board game

Biomes of Nilgiris is a turn-based, mission-oriented board game for 1–4 players, with each game taking about 90 minutes. Players become conservationists exploring India’s surreal Nilgiri biosphere, a region filled with unique flora and fauna.

Work as ecologists, photographers, or citizen scientists while adapting collaboratively to two ever-changing scenarios. These scenarios introduce fresh concepts and objectives, giving each game its own conservation focus.

On each turn, players can take three actions from the game’s available options. Travel across the modular board, explore to reveal new biome cards, and journal field entries in a field guide. Study those notes to gain usable experience, then put that knowledge toward discovering species, equipping tools, and responding to ecological challenges.

Conservation is at the heart of the experience. Players can conserve species or biomes, primarily earning ecology points while contributing to the protection of Nilgiris. Time at the station helps specialists gain experience, while careful use of equipment supports their work in the field.
