Caesar’s Empire

About this board game

Caesar’s Empire is a network-building board game for 2–5 players, played in about 60 minutes. Build roads from Rome across the board, connect new cities, collect treasures, and earn the most points to win.

On each turn, place one or more of your road pieces to connect Rome to a new city. Your route must begin at Rome or at a city whose token has already been taken, so you can continue a road started by another player. When you reach a city, take its City token and the Treasure token it provides.

After claiming a city, score the route back to Rome. Every road section on that route is worth 1 point for the player who owns it. Because routes may include roads placed by other players, your choices can award points to your opponents as well as to yourself.

• Build a shared road network across the board.
• Claim City tokens and collect Treasure tokens.
• Score every road section according to its owner.
• Complete treasure collections for valuable end-game points.

The game ends when Rome has been connected to every city. During final scoring, each City token is worth the value shown on its back. If you have several City tokens of the same colour, only the highest-valued one scores.

Treasure collections add another layer to your final total. Collections may contain matching or different treasures, while Gold is scored separately. In Caesar’s Empire, careful route building and well-timed city claims can turn a shared network into fortune and glory.
