About this board game

Café is a board game for 1–4 players, with approximately 45 minutes of play, in which coffee companies build and control a supply chain from plantation to distribution.

Set against Portugal’s rich coffee history, the game draws on the journey that began during the reign of King John V. Sergeant Melo Palheta travelled to French Guiana to establish the Utrecht Treaty of 1713 and secretly bring coffee seeds to Brazil. By 1800, Brazil had become one of the world’s largest coffee producers.

In the early 20th century, coffee from Brazil, São Tomé and Príncipe, Angola, and Timor was highly appreciated in Portugal. Its popularity helped inspire prestigious coffee shops in emblematic locations, attracting the elite and contributing to the growth of one of the world’s biggest coffee industries.

In Café, each player represents a coffee company working across the full journey of the product. Your company seeks to create and control the best possible supply chain by managing these essential stages:
