About this board game
Camargue is a tile-laying game for 2–6 players, with an approximate play time of 45 minutes. Players recreate the coastal landscape of southern France one tile at a time, extending paths and building connected groups of matching terrain.
Each player begins with a hand of three tiles. Landscape tiles show one of five landscape types, along with 2–4 paths leading to their edges. Every landscape tile also features an emblem indicating how it must be oriented when played. Helper tiles display two landscape types and offer a different way to score.
- Play a helper tile to score 10 points.
- Place a landscape tile so it extends at least one existing path without cutting off any paths.
- Score the contiguous group of the placed tile’s landscape type, multiplied by the number of edges your new tile touches.
- Draw a tile at the end of your turn.
For example, placing a forest tile that touches two other tiles and creates a group of six forest tiles scores 12 points. The growing layout makes every placement matter as players connect paths and expand landscape groups across the board.
Camargue also allows certain players to respond outside the normal turn order. If you have three tiles in hand, including at least one helper tile, and another player scores a landscape type shown on your helper tile, you may discard that helper to score the same number of points. Your next turn is then spent only drawing a tile.
When all tiles have been played, the player with the most points wins. Released in 2024, Camargue combines path-building, landscape grouping, and timely helper-tile decisions in a compact contest for the highest score.
