About this expansion
Circle the Wagons: Lone Cowboy is a solo board game expansion for 1 player, designed to be played in about 15 minutes. Released in 2017, it challenges you to outscore a non-human opponent across two rounds of card drafting.
Lone Cowboy contains 6 scenario cards. Each scenario defines the scoring conditions for the game and adds specific rules that determine how the opponent selects cards. Choose one scenario and place it in the center, then add the two scoring conditions listed on that card.
Deal 8 cards in a circle to begin the first round. You draft and place cards as normal, while cards you skip go to the opponent’s pile. The opponent follows the drafting criteria shown by the scenario to decide which card to take, and cards it skips go to your pile as normal.
When all 8 cards have been taken, deal the remaining 8 cards in a circle and repeat the process. This keeps the familiar gameplay of Circle the Wagons while giving each solo challenge its own rules and scoring focus.
- 6 scenario cards with distinct scoring conditions
- Two rounds using 8 cards each
- A non-human opponent with scenario-specific drafting criteria
- Scoring based on the scenario and the most common territories
After all 16 cards are gone, the opponent scores according to the scenario card and scores for the three most common territories in its pile. You score your town as normal. If your final score is higher, you win the challenge in Circle the Wagons: Lone Cowboy.
