About this board game
Claim is a 2–4 player wargame for approximately 60 minutes that reworks Chinese Checkers around enclosure and territorial control.
Players hop their pawns around the board, maneuvering to enclose opposing pieces. The central challenge is to use movement and positioning to gain control over regions during the contest.
When a region is controlled by one player or team, it is claimed by setting up a castle. These castles mark the regions that have been secured, giving the board a visible record of changing control as the game progresses.
- Players: 2–4
- Play time: approximately 60 minutes
- Core play: hopping pawns, enclosing opposing pieces, and claiming regions
- Territory marker: a castle is set up when a region is controlled
Released in 1983, Claim presents a wargame interpretation of a familiar jumping-board concept. Its play centers on the relationship between movement, enclosure, and the moment when control becomes a claimed region.
The game was released as Claim by Jumbo and as Die Wikinger Kommen by ASS. It also reimplements Castile and Turnier, placing it within a lineage of related designs.
For players looking for a focused board game built around positional movement and territorial capture, Claim offers a clearly defined objective: maneuver pawns, surround opposing pieces, and establish castles in the regions your side controls.
