About this board game

Clash Along the Psel: The Battle of Kursk 1943 is a two-player tactical wargame with an approximately 120-minute playing time, recreating the fierce fighting along the River Psel.

Set during the Battle of Kursk, the game focuses on the confrontation between the 3rd SS Panzergrenadier Division “Totenkopf” and the Soviet 5th Guards Tank Army. A German crossing of the Psel triggers an immediate and massive Soviet response, creating a titanic armored clash across the steppe.

German forces reach the dominating terrain of Hill 226.6, overlooking the Oboyan-Prokhorovka Highway. From there, the advance becomes a savage struggle as wave after wave of Soviet tanks attacks the German spearhead and threatens its position around the pontoon bridge over the Psel.

  • Recreate a tactical-level engagement from the Battle of Kursk.
  • Command German Pzkw VIE “Tiger” tanks or Soviet T-34 tanks.
  • Fight over Hill 226.6, the highway, and the German pontoon bridge perimeter.
  • Play the module for the ATS: Advanced Tobruk System.

With the German spearhead attacked at its base, further advance comes to an end for the SS Totenkopf formation. Clash Along the Psel presents this pivotal confrontation as a focused battle between German armored strength and the massed Soviet tank assault.

Released in 2004, Clash Along the Psel offers a compact historical scenario for two players seeking a tactical portrayal of one of the most intense clashes of the Kursk campaign.
